Registration:
To register, here’s what you need to do:
Saturday morning clinic details:
Location: we meet in the lacrosse box across the street from Hyde Creek Rec Centre for our warm-up and we run the local trails and streets.
When: Saturdays
Start time: During the winter season, we warm up at 8:50am and set out on our routes at 9am. During the Spring, Summer, and Fall seasons, we warm up at 7:50am and set out on our routes at 8am.
How it works: Once registered, you will receive a weekly email with tips, club info, and the Saturday routes for each group. You can then click the link to see a map where your group will be running. Arrive at Hyde Creek on Saturday morning at 8:45am and be ready to begin our warm-up at 8:50am. We then break into program groups. Your leaders will explain the route, the goal of the day, and set timers. You will then head out on your training run. At times, your front leader will direct the faster runners to circle back to bring the group back together. The goal in our first few weeks is to build group comradery. Once your run is complete, your leaders will show you some stretches before leaving.
Mid-week training: You will be expected to get 2 more training sessions per week done on your own. We have seen 2 days grow organically among our runners. We have groups meeting on Tuesdays at Hyde Creek at 6:30pm for session #2 of the week, as well as on Thursdays (AKA Thirsty Thursday) at 6:30pm at Tinhouse Brewing. On Thursdays, we meet at 6:30pm, head out for our session #3 run and then head inside for a social afterwards. This is a great way to meet others in Poco Run Club.
Our Seasonal Breakdown:
Our Winter season will be Jan 11th-April 5, preparing for the "Up The Creek 5k/10 Run" at Hyde Creek Rec Centre on April 5th as well as the Vancouver Sun Run on April 27. The BMO Half marathoners will continue through to May 4th.
Our Spring season will be April 12 - June 14. We had so much fun at the Longest Day 5k/10k Run over the last couple year that it has now made our annual calendar for Friday June 13 at 6:45pm out at UBC.
Our Summer season will be June 21st- August 30th and we look forward to the 2nd annual Poco Trail Relay on August 31st. This event promises to be bigger and better. More relay info will get posted as the event preparation unfolds. This is our signature event! If you are interested in volunteering for this event, please email [email protected]
Our Fall season will run Sept 6 - Dec 6 with the Terry Fox Run on Sept. 15. If you are interested in volunteering for this event, please email me at [email protected].
