Fall Registration:
To register, here’s what you need to do:
Saturday morning clinic details:
Location: we meet across the street from Hyde Creek Rec Centre for our warm up and we run the local trails and streets.
When: Saturdays
Start time: 7:50am warm up, 8am we set out on our routes. As we begin to lose the morning light and colder temperatures begin to set in, we will move the start time to 9am. This change will happen on October 26th.
How it works: Once registered, you will receive a weekly email with tips, club info, and the Saturday routes for each group. You can then click the link to see a map where your group will be running. Arrive at Hyde Creek on Saturday morning at 7:50am to begin our warm up. We then break into program groups. Your leaders will explain the route, the goal of the day, and set timers. You will then head out on your training run. At times, your front leader will direct the faster runners to circle back to bring the group back together. The goal in our first few weeks is to build group comradery. Once your run is complete, your leaders will show you some stretches before leaving.
Mid-week training: You will be expected to get 2 more training sessions per week done on your own. We have seen 2 days grow organically among our runners. We have groups meeting on Tuesdays at Hyde Creek at 6:30pm for session #2 of the week, as well as on Thursdays (AKA Thirsty Thursday) at 6:30pm at a local Craft Brewing location. On Thursdays, we meet at 6:30pm, head out for our session #3 run and then head inside for a social afterwards. This is a great way to meet others in Poco Run Club.
Our Seasonal Breakdown:
Our Winter season will be Jan 20th-April 6, preparing for the "Up The Creek 5k/10 Run" at Hyde Creek Rec Centre on April 6 as well as the Vancouver Sun Run on April 21.
Our Spring season will be April 13 - June 22 we had so much fun at the Longest Day 5k/10k Run last year that we're going to do it again on Friday June 14 at 6:45pm out at UBC. Another fun UBC event is the Vancouver Half Marathon/5k on June 24th. These are super-fun events to train for.
Our Summer season will be June 29th - Sept 7 and we look forward to a new relay event happening around the Poco Trail on Sunday Sept 8; the Terry Fox Run on Sept. 15, and the UA Dowtown Eastside 10k on Sept 22.
The Fall season will run Sept 14 - Dec 7 with the Vancouver Historic half/10k/5k run on November 24th as well as the Ugly Christmas Sweater Dash on December 7.
